Chapter 1405
Dorothy was on the verge of collapsing, but thankfully, Everett was right there to catch her fall.
Without wasting a moment, Everett dialed for an ambulance and also called Kevin to pick up Abigail from
preschool and take her back to their hin Bay Residence. Given the circumstances, Abigail must have been
terrified. With everyone at the hospital, they couldn't just leave her to wait at school by herself.
Once everything was settled, the doctor finally cout to meet them.
"How's my son doing, doctor?" Dorothy rushed over, her eyes filled with concern and urgency.
"He's out of surgery now. It was a minor fracture. With proper rest and care, he should recover within three to six
months. This recovery period is crucial."
Hearing this, Dorothy breathed a sigh of relief.
Everett, who had been holding her hand tightly, comforted her, "Don't worry, everything's going to be okay."
The doctor, seeing Dorothy's distress, spoke in a gentle voice, "Your son is very brave. He didn't cry once during

Langston, with his charming looks, had left quite the impression on the medical staff due to his distinctive
appearance among boys his age.
Soon enough, Langston was wheeled out to them.
His face was pale, lips nearly white, lying there so quietly.
Upon seeing his parents, Langston spoke with a hoarse voice, "How's sis? Is she okay?"
"Langston, you were her hero today! Your sister is perfectly fine, not a scratch on her!" Dorothy cried, holding
her son's hand, unable to stop the tears.
"She's okay, so I'm okay. Mom, please don't cry," Langston said weakly, unable to sit up, he waved his hand
towards Everett, "Dad, please comfort mom." "Yeah."
Everett himself was barely keeping it together, but he had to stay strong for Dorothy. If he panicked, it would
only make her more anxious.
Back in the hospital room, the doctor cin again to go over saftercare instructions.
Since Langston had just undergone surgery, he was not allowed to get out of bed and needed tto recover.
Everett stepped out to sort things out with the school, leaving Dorothy to stay by Langston's side.
"Mom, can | play video games while I'm here?" Langston asked, his thoughts inevitably turning to his computer.
Dorothy felt a mix of exasperation and sympathy for her son.
"Yes, you can, but you need to be
careful about your eyes! You can et
just keep playing; what if you end up needing glasses?"
"I'd just wear them, | guess."
Langston chuckled, ever the optimist, "Mom, | saved sis today. Doesn't that mean she should admireeven
more now?"
"Yes, your sister is really lucky to have you," Dorothy said, nodding earnestly.

Suddenly, Langston's expression grew more serious as if he remembered something important.
"Mom, can | ask you for a favor?"
"Of course, you can tellanything." Dorothy knew her son
was sensible and wouldn't as net
anything unreasonable, so she readily agreed.
Langston grinned, "Can you not be mad at sis?"
"She just really liked that pony, she didn't mean for any of this to happen! She was sobbing earlier, and if you
and dad get mad at her I'm afraid she'll cry even more! If she gets used to crying all the time, it's going to drive
Though he was complaining, it was clear he cared deeply for his sister.
Dorothy's heart warmed at his words.
Taking her son's hand in hers, she soothed, "You're a great big brother, and she'll always love you for it." "As long
as she cries less, that's all | ask!"
